Years after meeting at an international space camp and sharing dreams of becoming astronauts, Wu Wei and Ying Zi Qi reunite as part of China’s ambitious lunar exploration program. Following two consecutive failures of the second phase of the Haoyue Project, Chief Engineer Qin is tasked with leading the next critical stage of lunar exploration and return missions. To overcome the challenges ahead, Qin assembles a group of exceptional young talents from different disciplines—Wu Wei, Ying Zi Qi, Bai Yan, Miao Xinxian, and Yang Rui—forming the control center’s elite "Shepherd Team." Their mission is to develop innovative solutions and help ensure the success of the third phase of the Haoyue Project. Facing skepticism from other teams, mounting technical obstacles, and the worsening health of their mentor, the young researchers are forced to confront setbacks, self-doubt, and the gap between ambition and reality. Through perseverance, teamwork, and personal growth, they eventually pioneer a groundbreaking "Chinese ballistic" trajectory for the lunar landing and return module, bringing the dream of success within reach.
